Meesho guide
How to lower your Meesho shipping charge (and sell more)
Short answer
Meesho sets the shipping charge from your product’s weight slab, which comes from the actual or volumetric weight of the packed parcel, so the main levers are a lighter, smaller package, the right weight and category at listing, and disputing wrong weights. It matters because buyers see your price plus shipping: a lower shipping charge makes the same product cheaper in their feed without cutting your margin.
Why the shipping charge decides sales on Meesho
A Meesho buyer sees your selling price with the shipping charge added. Two sellers with the same product and the same price can show different totals because their shipping charges differ, and buyers on Meesho compare totals closely.
So bringing the shipping charge down is like cutting your price, except the money you keep per order stays the same.
How Meesho works out the shipping charge
- Weight slab: the charge follows weight slabs, not exact grams. A parcel just over a slab boundary pays the next slab.
- Actual vs volumetric weight: couriers charge the higher of the actual weight and the volumetric weight, usually length × breadth × height in cm ÷ 5000. A light but bulky box can cost more than its weight suggests.
- Category: Meesho’s support notes say the weight shown in the panel is based on the volumetric weight for the product’s category, so the right category matters.
- Set at listing: Meesho shows the shipping charge while you list the product, and sellers cannot type it in by hand.
- Package size: new seller accounts are asked for the package length, breadth and height at listing, so the size you enter counts as much as the weight.
Meesho does not publish its weight slabs or rate card publicly; they are only inside your supplier panel, and seller blogs quote different numbers. Go by the charge your panel shows for each product.
Legitimate ways to lower the shipping charge
Step 1: Weigh and measure the packed parcel
Weigh it exactly as it ships, with the packet and any tag or box, and measure its length, breadth and height. Use those at listing.
Step 2: Cut the package size
For items that are not fragile, a snug polybag or mailer instead of a box keeps volumetric weight down. Remove empty air and extra layers.
Step 3: Aim for the slab below
If the parcel is just over a slab, a thinner packet or lighter tag can drop it into the lower slab.
Step 4: Choose the correct category
List the product in the category that matches what you actually ship.
Step 5: Compare before you submit
Check the shipping charge Meesho shows while listing, and compare it with lower options before you publish.
Step 6: Dispute wrong weights
If Meesho charged a higher weight than your parcel, raise a weight dispute with a video of the parcel on a scale and its dimensions.
What not to do
- Do not declare a lower weight than the real packed parcel. Courier checks catch it and lead to weight-difference charges.
- Do not use pictures that do not match the product to change how it is classified. Listings must be accurate, and it can get the catalog blocked.
- Do not ship directly yourself to save shipping: Meesho has published a penalty for direct shipping.
How to dispute a wrong weight on Meesho
If Meesho charged your parcel at a higher weight than it really is, you can ask for a weight correction. A difference within the same slab is not corrected; when a correction is accepted, the difference is refunded to your bank and shows under Payments.
Step 1: Record the proof
A video of the packed product on a weighing scale, and the full package with a tape showing length, breadth and height.
Step 2: Raise it from Support
Use the shipping or product weight issue option in the supplier panel Support section.
Step 3: Reply quickly
Meesho can ask for the evidence within a short time, so keep the video ready before you raise it.
