Meesho guide
Meesho customer return vs RTO: what each one costs you
Short answer
An RTO is a parcel that never reached the buyer and comes back to you; a customer return is sent back after delivery. In OneClickOMS sellers’ recent Meesho payment files, an RTO carried no Meesho charge, while a customer return reversed the sale and took a reverse shipping charge by parcel weight: ₹157 with GST up to 500 g on Meesho’s rate card. The median seller saw about 15% of orders end as RTO and 15% as customer returns.
Customer return vs RTO: the difference
| RTO (return to origin) | Customer return | |
|---|---|---|
| What happened | The parcel never reached the buyer | The buyer received it and sent it back |
| Payment for the order | Not paid | Paid, then reversed |
| Meesho charge | None in recent payment files | Reverse shipping charge by weight, with GST (₹157 up to 500 g) |
| Your other costs | Packaging, time | Packaging, time, and a wrong or damaged item if it comes back that way |
Meesho reverse shipping charges by weight
Meesho shows its reverse shipping rate card in the supplier panel under Returns → View Rate Card. The charges include GST and go by parcel weight:
| Parcel weight | Reverse shipping charge (incl. GST) |
|---|---|
| Up to 500 g | ₹157 |
| 501 g to 1 kg | ₹175 |
| 1,001 g to 1.5 kg | ₹218 |
| 1,501 g to 2 kg | ₹258 |
| 2,001 g to 2.5 kg | ₹269 |
Heavier slabs are in the full rate card you can download from the same screen. Across OneClickOMS sellers’ recent customer returns the median charge was ₹157, so most returned parcels fall in the lowest slab. A lighter, smaller pack keeps a parcel in a lower slab.
How common they are
OneClickOMS sellers have added 5,200+ Meesho and Flipkart accounts. Among them, the median business saw 15% of Meesho orders (placed 30 to 180 days ago) end as RTO and 15% as customer returns. Clothing sellers saw about 15% RTO and 19% customer returns.
How to cut RTO
Late dispatch, cash on delivery, repeat orders to the same name and pincode, and a few bad pincodes drive most RTO. The numbers and four steps that cut it are in our Meesho RTO and returns report 2026 on the blog.
How to cut customer-return losses
- Scan every return as it arrives, and sort it into stock, reprocess or bad.
- Record an unboxing video of every return, and claim wrong, used or damaged items with the video and photos within the claim window.
- Read the return reasons for each product and fix size charts, photos and descriptions that cause them.
